Supporters and Volunteers who feel that they would like to become more involved with the
Wooden Canal Boat Society are encouraged to become members.
Levels
Free: Membership for people who Volunteer, but may be on a low income.
Paid: Membership for £12 per year. Invitations to all General Meetings, Voting rights and receive a Quarterly Newsletter (Printed - Posted or Digital Email). This level is for anyone who would like to support our work or are already actively involved. Invites to the meetings and voting rights enable members to shape decisions that have to be made. This may be financial, organising trips, running the Charity Shop, Fleet maintenance or planning fundraising events.
Sponsor: In addition to the Membership, you may like to offer further Support by donating to the ongoing maintenance of "Hazel - the Wellbeing boat". This boat has been specifically adapted for wheelchair access, whilst preserving many of its original features. You can even have your name put on a Sponsors Plate that is proudly mounted on Hazels Cabin. This enables the Wooden Canal Boat Society to Champion its purpose to make Canal and Heritage Narrow boating accessible to all.
Meetings
We have General Meeting every 3 months at the WCBS Shop. These are for Members, Sponsors, Volunteers or anyone who would like to know more about what we do and what we wish to do. Progress, ideas and decisions are openly discussed and its an opportunity for all to contribute to the progress and future of WCBS. Cake and biscuits are usually in good supply.
We have our Annual General Meeting in October. Again, this is a meeting for all (as General Meeting) but we review the year and prepare for seasonal events and maintenance for winter. We also reset the Membership Subscriptions (eg From Oct 1st to Sept 30th the next year). We also make sure we bring more cake and biscuits.
The Committee have a meeting once a month (Chief Skipper, Treasurers and Members who have ongoing WCBS responsibilities). This is just to make sure plans made during the General Meetings and being progressed and to review daily running decisions (eg, Bills!).
